SAMAKO incorporates an inventive foundation of top-secret messages into his pulse-pounding track, "Code."

Swedish electronic music producer SAMAKO has taken the cryptic rhythms of military Morse code and woven them into synthwave.

Music may be a universal language, but for SAMAKO, it's also a medium for decoding hidden messages. With his new track, "Code (2024 Remastered Version)," the Stockholm-based artist has ingeniously transformed Morse code into a pulsing club track, blending the secrecy of shortwave radio with the raw energy of the dancefloor.

SAMAKO says he was able to use WebSDR technology to capture abstruse radio signals transmitted in Morse code by French military "installations," including buzzers and encrypted messages. These signals, which he converted to MIDI using Ableton, became the building blocks of the song.

"The shortwave signals from the French installation that were sent in Morse code had a steady beat," he explains. "Since they were pretty clean signals, they translated perfectly into MIDI."

From there, SAMAKO sculpted the sound, shaping his production to mirror and maintain the eerie resonance of the original signals. The result is an arrangement of driving arpeggios and dark synths that blend with precision.
